About Me:
Robyn West has been married to Jay West for 32 years, they have 4 grown sons, 2 daughters in law. Robyn graduated from Anoka in1970 and attended the UofM Twin Cities. Robyn has spent the majority of her life inAnoka County. She has been a Blaine resident since 1990. In January 2007 Robyn was sworn in as commissioner in District 3. Robyn has held no other offices, but worked on campaigns and in the political arena over the last 25 years. She sits on the Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP) Board of Directors, Alexandra House Gala committee, and is a member of Metro North Chamber of Commerce, Blaine Central Lions officer, Blaine Ham Lake Rotary Club, and Zonta Club of Mpls, an international women’s organization that raises funds to assist disadvantaged women. (Due to Robyn’s influence, Zonta chose Alexandra House as the recipient for the next two years.) Robyn has also been very active in her church. She has been a leader in the process of strategic planning in two churches she was a member of. She also lead the interior design efforts of the new 133,000 square foot campus built by the church.

Important Issues:
Our economy is the issue that drives every thought in our lives. The citizens of Anoka County are struggling to meet the financial demands of their home and family. The taxpayer is the source of revenue that funds the activities of county government. It is incumbent upon the commissioners to spend those dollars in the most responsible way possible. This is not the time to raise taxes or the wages of county employees.

The priority should be toward core government services, which the county is mandated to provide. The County is responsible for the maintenance and building of county roads and bridges, public safety and many areas in Human Services.

Increased economic development is the key to growing our economy. Government should do everything possible to create ease for businesses so they can produce a robust environment for the market to thrive.

Political Philosophy:  My major passions are our liberty and limited, effective government. I believe in our wonderful citizen government and wanted to come to the table with that mindset. Jobs are created by the businesses when they are free to thrive and take the necessary risks to promote innovation.
