A Better Life gives an inside look at the lives many people try and build for their family's everyday in this country. The film is a picture of how illegal immigrants live; from the work they do to the lengths many of them will go to protect and provide for their family. While the film does not become preachy, there is a clear message about immigration and how it can make or break a family. The film is blessed with performances that feel real and raw, but at times it does suffer from a lackluster script and poor writing. If you have a chance to check out A Better Life it will be thought provoking and challenging and most of the time if a movie can achieve those two goals it is worth your time.
