About Me:

Byron Westlund is running for Ham Lake City Council. He is a resident of Ham Lake for seven years, a business resident for the City of Ham Lake for 17 years, current board of managers for the Coon Creek Watershed. Byron is a former member of the Ham Lake Comp Plan Task Force. He is a husband, father and grandfather.

As project manager and an officer of Woodland Development Corporation, he has been through three commercial site plan reviews with the City of Ham Lake. These projects would include the Americ Inn, Woodland Development corporate office and the Majestic Greens Senior Apartment building. He is responsible for the construction of over 220 homes built within the City of Ham Lake. He has also been responsible for more than 10 subdivisions from concept to completion with the City of Ham Lake. He has a good reputation with city staff and other governmental agencies. He has been responsible for keeping jobs within the City of Ham Lake by hiring local subcontractors and suppliers whenever possible for our construction needs. He has worked hard with local land owners and homeowners so that they may move on with their plans.

Important Issues:
Byron believes in low taxes and expanding our tax base. He wants to continue with the appropriate police and fire protections. He will advocate for our senior citizens and youth. He supports a sewer and water plan for commercial expansion. He will preserve the rural feeling and yet provide for life cycle housing.

Political Philosophy:  Byron will use his experience and knowledge as a land developer to help solve complex issues facing the City of Ham Lake. He wants to revise the existing comprehensive plan to be more inviting to business and new residents. He believes all things change and the city needs to begin the process of change by reflecting this in their comprehensive plan.

Endorsements:  Byron is endorsed by the North Metro Realtors Association, the North Metro Chamber Leadership Fund and by County Commissioner Dick Lang.
