The North Metro TV Internship program is intended to expose interested students to the day to day operation of a community television station and the ongoing production of community television programs. It is hoped that this experience will supplement any formal education or career opportunities that the intern may be pursuing.
In addition to providing hands-on experience with video production equipment, the internship program will seek to involve the intern in all aspects of community television production, including researching, scripting, and on-camera reporting of community events. The intern will work closely with North Metro TV staff and share many of the same duties and responsibilities.
North Metro Television has created this program with the intent of offering interns a positive learning experience which fully illustrates the diverse opportunities available in community television.
A. All persons desiring an internship through North Metro TV must first submit an Intern Application Form, along with resume and references, and be interviewed by staff. Those selected for an internship will be chosen by a department director, based on the candidate’s qualifications and the North TV’s current needs.
B. No intern candidate will be discriminated against because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or any other basis, which is prohibited by applicable Federal, State, or City law.
C. All intern applicants for the program must be at least 18 years or older, enrolled in an accredited community college, technical college or university, and be available for a minimum of 10 hours a week. (Hours will vary.)
A. For paid interns compensation in the amount of $500.00 will be paid to the intern upon completion of a minimum ten-week internship program. Unpaid internships are also available. An intern is not an employee and therefore is not covered by North Metro TV’s employee benefit plan or Worker’s Compensation insurance.
B. All interns are expected to learn and follow the rules, policies, and regulations of North Metro TV. If these rules are not abided by, the student’s internship will be terminated.
C. North Metro TV reserves the right to terminate any individual and withhold the $500.00 stipend at any time for reasonable cause. The determination of reasonable cause shall be at the sole discretion of North Metro TV.
