Minnesota 6th Congressional District

Minnesota has eight congressional districts that each elect one representative every other year.  The sixth district stretches from Stillwater and Woodbury through Saint Cloud and Paynesville.  Other cities included in the 6th district are Ham Lake, Blaine, Circle Pines, Lexington, Lino Lakes, and Centerville.   The 2010 candidates running for U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District are:

 Bob Anderson (IP)

About Me:
Bob was born in Minneapolis and spent his childhood in Richfield, MN. As a lifelong Minnesota resident Bob knows the issues Minnesota and its residents face. Bob was schooled in both private and public schools. He graduated from Richfield High School. With a diverse education background Bob has the experience to know the pro’s and con’s of public versus private schooling.

For the past 30 years Bob has worked in the dental health industry as a successful business owner where he faced tough decisions head on and met them with a strong resolve to see his plan of action through in an effective and efficient manner.

Bob is passionate for issues that affect not only Minnesotan’s daily lives, but Americans. Bob truly believes that a determined, united group of citizens can make a significant difference in this country more so than the high paid lobbyists and special interest groups.

Important Issues:
Economy:  We have to address the job situation. I feel the best way to create jobs is to stop the outsourcing. We should outsource in America if we need to outsource. We all benefit if Americans are working paying taxes and spending money here. We all have to pitch in and work through this crisis together.

Education:  I believe as well as the Independence Party believes education begins in the home, and we call on parents, family and all members of the community to actively participate in the education of our young people. We support innovative and results-oriented schools because we believe outcomes matter. With the cost of education consuming half of the state’s budget, we must ensure efficient use of our education resources.

Political Philosophy
:  I believe in a common sense approach to politics. With the Republicans and Democrats heavily influenced by extremists, America is starving for and deserves a solid independent candidate that can look at the issues and vote based on the needs of the 6th District and not just voting straight down party lines. I consider myself a right leaning centrist with conservative views and believe in a limited government. We as Americans can thrive if we keep government small and for only the necessary needs of the people. I feel we should go to Washington to serve our constituents and then go back to the private sector and work under the laws we passed in congress. I don't feel we should make a career out of congress.

 Michele Bachmann (R)

About Me:  Michele Bachmann is currently running for her third term as Congresswoman of the Sixth Congressional District in Minnesota. Winning a reputation as a principled reformer, Congresswoman Bachmann has become a leader, calling for pro-growth policies in the economy and advocating for private job creation.

She is a leading advocate for bipartisan earmark reform and tax relief and is a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending. She is among the leaders in the U.S. House pushing for increased energy exploration in the U.S. to provide much needed relief at the pump for hard-working Americans and put our nation on the path to energy independence.

Important Issues:  Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Bachmann served in the Minnesota State Senate. She was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2000 where she championed the Taxpayers Bill of Rights. And, prior to that, Bachmann spent five years as a federal tax litigation attorney, working on hundreds of civil and criminal cases. That experience solidified Bachmann’s strong support for efforts to simplify the Tax Code and reduce tax burdens on family and small business budgets.

Congresswoman Bachmann has also been a leading advocate at repealing the recently enacted Health Care law that imposes unconstitutional mandates on constituents of the Sixth Congressional District.

Political Philosophy:  Michele Bachmann believes that the government should work for the people and not vice versa. Whether it’s been misguided bailouts or unconstitutional mandates, it’s time to take our country back and listen to our constituents when they say “enough is enough.”

Congresswoman Bachmann is honored to represent Minnesota in Congress and asks for your vote on November 2nd

 Aubrey Immelman (i)

About Me:

Aubrey Immelman is a political psychologist who has served as a national security consultant with the Department of Defense in threat assessment and nuclear deterrence, advised U.S. Customs and Border protection on terrorist profiling, and conducted training for NATO intelligence officers. He has a military background as an infantry paratrooper in counterinsurgency and anti-terrorist operations, and in military psychology. He holds a doctoral degree in psychology. Immelman is married (Pamela), with four children aged 16 (Tim), 13 (Matt), 11 (Elizabeth), and 5 (Patrick).

Important Issues:  My signature issue is U.S. national security, with a special focus on the unintended consequences of the Iraq war, which created complex security challenges for the United States. While congressional candidates across the nation are focused almost exclusively on the economy – granted, an important issue – I’m keeping my eye on looming threats to our national security, including the prospective collapse of the Iraqi government after the 2011 U.S. withdrawal, the increasing influence in Iraq of a prospectively nuclear-armed Iran, the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and nuclear-armed Pakistan, and the regrouping of al-Qaida to mount coordinated attacks on the United States – including Mumbai-style swarm attacks and Beslan-type school massacres. My other core issues are public safety, enforcing immigration law, and border security.

Political Philosophy: I’m a traditional conservative who believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget, deficit reduction, and a strong military focused primarily on national defense, not nation-building or preemptive war.
