Spring Lake Park Mayor

The 2010 candidates for Spring Lake Park Mayor are:

 Cindy Hansen
 Jason Letourneau

About Me:
Jason Letourneau is running for Mayor. He was appointed by former Mayor Harley Wells and the council unanimously to fill an open seat on the Planning and zoning. He has lived in spring Lake Park for 30 years and is married to wife Jennifer; they have 4 children ages 5 to 19 all of whom, have attended Spring Lake Park schools from Woodcrest all the way through the high school. He has a Master of Architecture and a double minor in Art / Architectural History, and Anthropology/Sociology.  He also owns a small business called Letourneau Design Associates, LLC which he operates from his home.

Both sides of his family have lived in spring lake park and the lower part of Blaine for over 60 years the Solberg’s and Letourneau’s have attended Spring Lake Park schools since before the high school was built, they were among the first residents that attended the Blaine school which is now called Westwood.

Being part of the community runs in my family from, homecoming kings, all American football players, school board members planning and zoning members. Jason wishes to continue this tradition of involvement with community by being elected your Mayor of Spring Lake Park.

Important Issues
:  Conflicts in Zoning and Policy are affecting many, yet few are getting resolution, it is time to address conflicts in Zoning, Ordinances and Policy. Our City government needs to become proactive in meeting needs and informing the public of changes.

Supporting our Parks, after hearing the current officials claim they want to use our taxpayer dollars to purchase land for parks. City Hall is using valuable park land to simply, park city trucks. Help me stop the wasteful uses of much needed park land.

Do not let them say to you again "I think there are enough parks in Spring Lake Park, why do we need more“ City Parks are as important as our City’s name.

I have reviewed the budget and all options are on the table. I will make reductions through thoughtful cuts to eliminate any waste, without compromising essentials such as police, fire, roads and city services

Political
Philosophy:  Jason believes the citizens of Spring Lake Park deserve the right to be represented not as a majority but as a city of individuals. Issues and concerns should be discussed and reviewed so that all the residents’ needs are addressed. Cities were not created by a majority, but by individuals with their own creativity, passion, and properties. Keeping the high standards of a residential community while fostering growth and redevelopment in our commercial segments to allow for lower taxes. Jason will work hard to resolve the resident’s issues with an open mind and remain accessible to hear and respond to their concerns. He has stated over and over that, his main priority is representing the entire city and the residents
